Sony Xperia Z tablet review Ultimate high end tablet from Sony
Sony's all new Xperia Z tablet is a real challenge for Google Nexus 10 and iPads. Xperia Z is a big screen tablet version of its Xperia Z smartphone. It is water and dust resistant with IP5/7 certified (30 mins). Sony managed to bring their products in focus with their advanced and upgraded Xperia series.
Xperia Z tablet is stunningly sharp, faster, impossibly thin and light weight device. It is clearly an advance Sony product. It also has microSD for additional storage increase. Certainly a great full HD tablet from Sony.

Smartphones with Android operating have taken more market shares against iOS devices, yet when it comes to tablets, it is difficult to match sales and choice of iPads. Considering Xperia Z all new tablet, it is surely a tough competition to iPads and other tablet products including Google and Samsung.

In dimensions, Xperia Z is thinnest and lightest big screen tablet currently in the market. Even iPad mini is 7.9 mm thick and weighing higher.

Xperia Z tablet design is eye catching with a jet black rubberized plastic finish. Both sides of tablets are completely flat and feels perfect. Rubber seals all over ports feels little annoying while in use but surely keeps this device fully water and dust resistant.

With 8Mp Camera and Sony's own Exmor R sensor, photo taking experience is great. Still can not be matched with high end smartphones, but overall great than many other high end tablets. Watching movies on Xperia Z tablet is surely a fun. It provides 16:9 aspect ratio, made possible with mobile Bravia engine, further enhancing smooth and in-depth color production with great viewing angles.

Its 10.1" LCD is equipped with Sony's Mobile Bravia Engine 2 technology. It gives 228 ppi picture density which looks great and enough. Resolution lacks behind iPad's 264 ppi Retina Display and Nexus 10's amazing 300 ppi density.

Its 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor coupled with 2GB RAM and smart use of latest Android Jelly Bean operating system gives excellent performance.

Xperia Z is available with price range of $449 which is in similar range of iPads (latest iPad 4, 2048x1536 and 264ppi), but still costlier than Google Nexus 10 tablet with even high resolution (2560x1600) display. Cost doesn't make this tablet a no. 1 choice due to lower pixel and resolution display. Apple, Google and Samsung products fits pretty well in this department.

Overall Xperia Z tops in terms of rigidity, durability, excellent ergonomics, fast performance & a real Sony product. Considering camera, operating, battery life, app market, cost, again thumbs up to iPads. Nexus 10 and some other Google tablets are even much cheaper and best options available.

Pros: Excellent Design, light weight, water & dust resistance making rough use possible, fast performance, microSD for memory expansion, Universal remote available, great "Social Life" home screen widgets.

Cons: Expensive, Limited accessory ecosystem, Average Camera options with No LED flash.
