Amazon's Kindle tablet is a great handy device for reading online papers, magazines, and books. With an attractive price, flexibility and vast resources Kindle became popular and preferred brand for e-reading worldwide.

Amazon's Kindle Fire HD has a decent price and you get a world class 7 Inch tablet from Amazon. Similar to Android tablets, Kindle gives excellent multimedia experience and best for versatile usage. That’s the reason Amazon introduced two different size variant in the market naming Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire HD 8.9.

Kindle Fire HD has a solid design with soft rubberized unibody design with a hard gray bezel around the edges. It has 7 Inch IPS Display with 1280x800p resolution and 16:10 aspect ratio. The display is made with Zero Gap Technology (ZGT) removing air gap between Display and Touch panel. It also has Polarizing Filter on the glass so that it reflects minimum. The screen is protected with Gorilla Glass against scratches and daily rough use. Touchscreen has 10 point input technology. On the back, there is a horizontal solid strip with Kindle Logo and Speaker Grills at the edges.

The tablet supports Dolby Surround Sound and has dual drivers for each speaker ensuring louder and great sound quality. It also has HD Front Facing camera for Video Chat experience. The device is just 10.3mm Thick and weights only 395g. The power button, Volume rocker buttons are present on the edges. It also has 3.5mm audio jack on sides with micro HDMI, microUSB ports.

Talking about Specs, Fire HD is powered by 1.2 GHz dual-core Processor with PowerVR SGX540 GPU and enough 1GB RAM. The tablet comes with 16GB/32GB storage options and it cannot be expanded. You can utilize Amazon's 5GB online cloud storage account for virtual storage.  Fire HD comes with massive 4400 mAh battery support which takes almost 4 hrs to charge completely.

The tablet has great connectivity options which include Wi-Fi Dual Band, Dual Antennas, Bluetooth 3.0 + EDR with HID and A2DP support. It works on Android 4.0 (ICS) operating system with Amazon's modified UI to have a totally different look. Unfortunately, there is no App Switching easy navigation made available which would have been more convenient.

Fire HD supports TXT, PDF, DOC, DOCX, MOBI, AZW, PRC formats for reading files. Viewing, reading on Kindle Fire HD is a unique experience. The display has wonderful resolution and best suitable for long hours reading. Font sizes can be adjusted and the display shows wide viewing angles. You can also use non-DRM files to play on your device easily by transferring them from PC/laptop. X-Ray is another great feature with Fire HD, which analyzes the page and collects all the information such as Actors, Biographies, and other information in the graphical timeline. You can even bookmark liked pages and view them multiple times later.

The tablet has cool Notification Center at top left corner giving you access to the pinpoint information such as New Emails, Alarms, Reminders etc. Tablet's Lock Screen is always loaded with current on-going Ads supported by Amazon and while you Swap to Unlock, they disappear. Amazon will ask you for additional $15 if you wish to opt them out.

There are many cool apps available in Amazon Store and very few of them are available on Google Play as well. However, it does not support Google Play Store. You can use some third party apps using their apk files to install on a device. There are as many as 150000 textbooks and 208 newspapers available for reading at Amazon content server. In the world of digital subscription, Amazon's Kindle products surely beat the competition.

While you need a rest from reading, text-to-speech is an excellent utility available which speaks everything for you. The device is configured with famous Ivona Salli's voice and cannot be changed. Still, it sounds quite natural and pleasant. Its MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) is a great way to connect it with PC to sync data. You can use the device as a mass storage hub. Fire HD has its own Amazon Silk browser, which works like Opera to speed up the browsing.

Kindle Fire HD comes in 16GB/32GB variants with no support for expansion. Surely enough for e-reading storage. It has enough battery supports which lasts as much as 11 hrs in straight use. On purchase, Amazon gives full 30 days free access to famous magazines such as Guns & Ammos, Women's Health, Maxim, Cosmopolitan to name a few. It has a current price tag of $169 from previous $199 due to a release of Fire HD 8.9 and competition.
